Guide to IPOs in the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE)
An Initial Public Offering (IPO) represents the gateway for retail investors to enter the equity market in Nepal. Before secondary market listing on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), companies issue public shares to pool retail capital. Due to extremely high demand, allotments are managed under a strict lottery system overseen by CDS & Clearing Limited (CDSC) and designated merchant bankers (issue managers). Understanding the allotment schedule, eligibility terms, and refund timelines helps you navigate the primary stock market with ease.
Applying for an IPO
You can apply for open IPOs/FPOs through your Mero Share portal or via physical ASBA forms at your bank. The standard application minimum is 10 units.
Allotment & Credits
Share allotments are completely randomized using an automated CDSC system. Once allotted, merchant bankers transfer the shares to your demat profile.
Demat & Listing
Shares normally credit to demat accounts in 7–15 days. Trading on the NEPSE floor begins shortly after listing, following an opening range match.
